I am fascinated by airports. My consistent interest in time & space has led me to develop this series, Commuters. I am drawn to places that are inherently temporal - that is to say, places in which we never lose our sense of time. We are either waiting for a plan to arrive, or a flight to be assigned to a gate, or for our train to leave, or, in my case, hoping that it will be further delayed so I can capture even more of these anonymous and quotidian, but for many anxiety-ridden, moments.

I am also very drawn to these spaces as exemplifying the globalization of architecture. Can you tell which is Guatemala City and which Tampa, Florida? Do we remember the last time we visited an airport that did not look anything like these? Are our memories of our trips ever tied to the place through which we leave and arrive?
